Developing enduring solutions to mining environmental challenges is what we do

And we’re really good at it.

We provide life-of-mine environmental services and specialise in mine closure and rehabilitation. We provide environmental, engineering, geoscience & geospatial services to develop enduring solutions to mining environmental challenges.

Mine Earth offers specialised environmental services to support enduring solutions. We offer tailored, practical and cost-effective solutions that leave positive legacies for future generations.

Approvals and Closure Planning

We have extensive mine closure experience across Australia, Africa and Papua New Guinea in the mining, processing and infrastructure sectors.  Our team produces closure plans and Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plans (100+ approved) for all phases of operations, from supporting approvals (Mining development and Closure Proposals) to demolition and executable closure. Our expertise includes assessing closure readiness, scoping, planning, and managing multidisciplinary projects to meet regulatory, client and stakeholder expectations.  We also offer independent peer reviews and technical advisory services to support closure outcomes.

Rehabilitation Performance Monitoring

We design adaptive rehabilitation monitoring programs that measure closure performance and drive continual improvement towards agreed completion criteria.  Our assessments cover physical (e.g., erosion features), biological (e.g., vegetation success), and social (e.g., community engagement) aspects of rehabilitation. Using a combination of on-ground engagement and advanced remote sensing techniques—including automated curvature analysis—we deliver meaningful insights and measurable results.

Water management and constructability are critical components of landform design. We utilise drainage assessments and targeted modelling to develop practical designs to meet agreed design requirements and stakeholder expectations. Our services include options analysis, cover and seepage modelling, sediment control design and landform evolution to enhance long-term closure performance. We also prepare detailed design documentation and quality management programs to ensure that closure outcomes meet design requirements. Leveraging our closure execution experience, we produce robust closure cost estimates across all mine life stages and offer due diligence reviews and cost optimisation studies.

Rehabilitation and Closure Delivery

We support our clients through all phases of the delivery of closure works, including contractor procurement, preparation of construction documentation, project management, cost control and technical support during the program of works.  To enable efficient delivery that meets quality requirements, Mine Earth provides on-site survey services, performance verification and quality management through closure works.  Mine Earth works closely with our clients to ensure closure works are fit for purpose and minimise long term closure risks while being implemented in an efficient manner.

Soil Assessments

Our team conducts baseline and stockpile soil surveys to inform the strategic management and deployment of rehabilitation resources. Drawing on our experience across diverse environments, we optimise soil inventories to support effective closure planning. Mine Earth operates a specialised soils laboratory and conducts soil characterisation plus laboratory and field-scale research trials. We also perform acid sulfate soil investigations and develop management plans tailored to mining operations. Our landform assessments follow EPA guidelines to map and evaluate the significance of natural landforms, and our soil salinity impact assessments inform remediation strategies for saline spills.

Mine Waste Environmental Geochemistry Assessments

Our team brings specialised geological and geochemical expertise to mine waste assessments.  We evaluate the erodibility and geochemical characteristics of mine waste through robust sampling programs and analysis of existing datasets. We develop tailored and practical mine waste management plans based upon mine waste characteristics and the materials inventory. These are critical inputs for effective landform design, to leave a positive legacy for future generations.

We understand how material properties and water qualities can be altered due to geochemical and microbiological processes. We use our knowledge of rock/water/gas interactions to predict changes to surface and groundwater quality, and changes to materials in tailings dams or material stockpiles. We use our skills in water and isotopic chemistry to identify seepage sources and pathways, support environmental impact studies, and develop water management strategies.

Geospatial Services

We deliver high-quality spatial and survey solutions across a range of applications. Our core capabilities include aerial drone surveys, earthworks survey support, contract and traditional survey services, survey equipment hire, and independent survey audits. We are committed to providing accurate, timely, and cost-effective solutions, and we pride ourselves on building long-term partnerships through technical excellence and responsive client service.
